Paper Tube Fun

Use those cardboard tubes found in toilet paper, paper towels, and gift wrap to make a kachina doll, a totem pole, a rocket, or even a shiny robot.

Supplies

  • Cardboard tubes
  • Construction paper, colored paper, craft foam
  • Sequins, beads, yarn, buttons, and other decorative items
  • Aluminum foil (for the robot)
  • Pipe cleaners
  • Scissors
  • Glue or paste

Directions

  1. Assemble all of your supplies. The list above is just a guide. Use your imagination and creativity, and make it appropriate for your child's age.
  2. If you're using paper towel or gift-wrap tubes, cut them to the size you want your project to be. (Toilet paper tubes are already a perfect size for most projects!)
  3. Cover the tube in construction or colored paper (or in foil to make a robot).
  4. Decorate with beads, buttons, etc.
  5. Add pipe cleaners for a robot's antenna or an angel's halo.
  6. Use your imagination and have fun.
